Hey Michael!
7:52pm
hey ernesto- long
time no talk! what's going on?
7:52pm
I know, it’s been
a while
I’m good, how are
you?
how are you
feeling about the presidency?
7:53pm
im doing pretty
all right too- I was just going to say the elections been on my mind
i voted for a
third party, haha
so I’m not really
happy about obama, but I’m glad its not Romney;
they both support
our multiple military occupations though
7:54pm
ok so you could
vote "blank” or “undecided”
7:54pm
well no, we have
more than 2 parties but almost all of the country doesn’t take any of them
seriously, haha
its scary how
close it was. a lot of this country is INSANE
7:55pm
I know, it was
very close.
7:55pm
lately I’ve been
trying to get news from outside the country about the US
7:56pm
how so?
7:56pm
just online
like on youtube
or whatever- it sucks but what’s on TV is mostly propaganda or just to divide
people
7:56pm
you are intrigued
about international views on the US?
7:57pm
well yeah, and
they report things that aren’t reported about what’s going on here
7:57pm
you mean things
that are not locally reported?
7:58pm
well even
nationally, like it's covered up
i don’t know what
it's like in colombia, but in the US the two parties basically just latch onto
divisive issues like abortion or gay marriage that’s a more personal thing and
use it to divide people
and then the news
talks about that instead of all the war or corruption or whatever
what’s going on
in colombia politically?
8:01pm
in colombia (or
at least in bogota) I sense there is resentment between social classes that is
being used as political strategy.
8:01pm
which party is in
power?
i know so little
about international politics, that’s another side effect of being American; is
you think you’re more important than everyone else and don’t bother to learn
about them
hahaha
8:02pm
parties in colombia
are merely excuses. They don’t really reflect ideologies in general. At least
I’d say.
8:03pm
ah
8:03pm
However the Major
here in bogota has very socialist principals. But hell, What do I know…
8:03pm
hmm
i wish this
country had a good enough moral foundation to work together
the few people
with all the power are just evil evil people
im beginning to
worry sometimes about all my treasonous conversations i have online haha, who
knows who is reading them
8:06pm
Hahah, america is
'a free country'
8:06pm
oof
we are free
because we go around mugging the rest of the world with our drones
they keep passing
bills trying to restrict the internet like china
it’s not all bad
though- a few states finally made marijuana legal haha
we’re not all
crazy
8:09pm
aside from
California, what other states?
8:09pm
california
actually did not legalize it
the distinction
here is between medical and recreational use
8:09pm
oh, ok
8:09pm
colorado and
washington state have it legal now for non medicinal use
so they smartly
will just tax it and allow it to be sold that way
the culture in
those places is very different, especially colorado- its always been there and
the people support it
what is the social climate like in colombia?
are people aware of what’s going on? or passionate about it? i feel like americans police their own thoughts now
8:17pm
like there is more social awareness than the ruling class dictating everyone what to think?
8:17pm
right
ha, that term "ruling class" would never get used here. people love to say they are "middle class" if they're a poor man or a millionaire
8:18pm
there is no middle class here
8:18pm
this begets rebels, right?
if you cant advance yourself i mean
8:19pm
It’s a tough question, but I think the country is going though such an economic breakthrough that all everyone thinks is how ‘well everything is going’ and also about ending the internal conflict with the armed groups
8:20pm
hmm
8:10pm
do you believe
art must be political?
8:11pm
hmmm
i think all art
is political
sometimes it’s
just not at the forefront
but like, even if
you make totally abstract art- there’s politics in allowing free association
that’s what i
think
like all GOOD art
is political somehow, but maybe just not explicitly
what do you
think?
8:15pm
well, I
sympathize with George Orwell when he says that even not wanting to express a
political posture in art is itself a political posture.
8:15pm
yes
i think we are saying
the same thing
hah
I’ve been
thinking of his writing lately
8:20pm
I´ll be right
back, I´m having a hamburger
8:20pm
for sure- i
forget the time difference ha
8:30pm
er wait- there is
no difference!
well we should
catch up more later- im reading about US colombian relations now on wikipedia ha
8:33pm
yes, well you´ll
find out we’re your suckers
8:34pm
man, we just go
around pouring fuel into fires that already have started
thats how we make
all our money, didnt you know!
8:35pm
hahaa, that's a rough statement, maybe true, though
I’m leaving but hey, thank you.
I’ll let you know when this gets posted
8:37pm
hey no problem-
glad to catch up. is your art anywhere online i could see?
I’ll send you my
site once i get everything back online
8:38pm
not yet, but please
do so
talk to you soon!
8:38pm
will do, and
yeah!
you can message
me the link on here once this is up
8:39pm
Im very much
intrigued of your work since ECP
8:39pm
yours too man, i
hope i can see it soon
8:40pm
I´ll send it to
you when I can
8:40pm
cool
thanks!
8:40pm
no, thank you.
Take care
8:44pm
hey
what’s your favorite color?
8:45pm
hmmmmmm I’d have
to say red
not to represent
my politics though ha
8:45pm
so it seems
